Everton fans will fear for the worst after David Moyes injury update pre-Nottingham Forest

Everton have a host of players out injured at the moment, and they will hope that they can return against Nottingham Forest.

David Moyes‘ side travel to the City Ground on 28 December, less than a month after Everton beat Forest 3-0 at home.

It may be a completely different clash this time around, though, as Everton may still be missing Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Moyes gave an update on their status ahead of the contest against Sean Dyche‘s side, and fans will surely fear the worst.

Moyes shares whether Everton’s injured stars will return vs Forest

Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye are still away from Everton at the Africa Cup of Nations, but Grealish and Co could play if they are fit enough.

However, Moyes did not sound too confident when asked whether any of his injured players would be back for the clash against Dyche’s side.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, which was released on 28 December, he said: “There’s a chance, we hope so, we will see.”

The delivery of his answer suggests that he is concerned, as it was short and blunt, rather than offering any kind of expansive detail into potential returns.

Why Everton desperately need their injured players back

The Blues were a mess all over the show against Burnley, as they drew 0-0 with the relegation candidates last time out, and allowed significant chances, while struggling to create their own.

The deputising players could not make the required impact, although Tyler Dilbing did impress on a rare start for the Blues.

They need Grealish, Dewsbury-Hall and Branthwaite back as soon as possible, if they are to push up the table and try to qualify for Europe.

The attacking duo are two of the Toffees’ best players, and along with Ndiaye, who is away at AFCON, are the only ones who provide creativity.

Meanwhile, Branthwaite, who has not featured since pre-season, is a behemoth in the backline, and while Michael Keane has done a solid job in his absence, he is not as good as the ex-Carlisle man.
