Kyle Walker’s post shows just how badly Everton did vs Burnley

David Moyes will no doubt feel frustrated by Everton’s performance in their goalless draw at Burnley on Saturday.

Aiming to bounce back from the scoreless defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea, Everton’s 0-0 draw with Burnley did little to ease the worry over their issues up front.

Everton have realistic hopes of playing in Europe next season, and these are the matches they need to be winning if they wish to achieve this under Moyes.

To make matters worse, Burnley defender Kyle Walker has praised the result online, which will undoubtedly leave supporters even more frustrated.

Kyle Walker praises a positive result for Burnley against Everton

Everton were depleted by injuries at Turf Moor, with Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Jarrad Branthwaite among those unavailable.

Walker took to Instagram after the match and said: “Another valuable point and a clean sheet. Hope everyone had a Happy Christmas.”

It clearly shows how much of a missed opportunity this was for the Toffees, given the fact that Burnley are overjoyed with a draw.

The Clarets, who sit 19th and look destined for relegation, had more xG and shots than Everton, and it was embarrassing to see the Toffees outclassed by a side so low in confidence.

Striker Zian Flemming also had a gilt-edged chance to win the match in the dying minutes, and it’s definitely a match that Moyes will want to forget quickly.

Everton have scored just 18 goals this season, the second-lowest in the top flight, and a clinical striker could have them competing much higher up the table.

Everton made to pay for failings in the summer transfer window

With Ndiaye unavailable for the foreseeable future, this was the perfect opportunity for either Beto or Thierno Barry to step up.

Beto started at Turf Moor and was inches away from getting on the end of Tyler Dibling’s shot across the face of the goal.

Barry then forced a low save from Martin Dubravka in the second half, but the game summed up the struggles the Toffees have faced all season long.

With strikers being constantly linked with a move to L4, it would be surprising if there was no transfer activity at all in January.

Games against Nottingham Forest, Brentford, and Wolves are on the horizon, and it’s imperative that Everton don’t slip up in the same manner as they did on Saturday.
