Everton line up deal to sign player who rejected Wolves in £13m January swoop
Everton are weighing up a £13million move to sign Sevilla forward Ruben Vargas.
David Moyes is after recruits in the January transfer window, and Everton’s frontline could soon be boosted.
The Toffees’ attack is one area that has come under the microscope in recent weeks, as the latest update suggests that the Everton boss is keen on adding firepower.
The Friedkin Group have money for Moyes to spend next month, with Vargas now firmly in Everton’s thinking.

Everton have recently monitored Ruben Vargas
Vargas has been excelling at Sevilla this season and has only continued his form from last campaign.
However, the left-winger has been sidelined with a muscle injury since the back end of November, but is nearing a return to action right in time for his proposed move to Merseyside.
Vargas’ stats for Sevilla in La Liga this season:
- Games: 12
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 4
According to Spanish outlet ABC Deportes, Everton are now positioning themselves to sign Vargas ahead of the January window, and have recently monitored the forward.
Sevilla’s stance is that they are only willing to negotiate a sale starting at a minimum asking price of £13m.
The 27-year-old was keen on making a move to Napoli in the summer, after rejecting Wolves, but a deal never materialised.

Everton’s recent 0-0 draw with Burnley proved that Moyes needs an extra addition up top, and the Swiss international could be the man to sign.

Vargas interest throws up Jack Grealish question
Everton have the option to make Jack Grealish’s loan move permanent from Manchester City next summer, for a reported fee of around £50m.
The fee would break the Toffees’ transfer record, hence why a permanent move may be difficult to conclude.
Grealish has been fantastic for Everton and would need to be replaced with someone of similar quality or better.
The interest in Vargas may suggest that the Toffees are braced to admit defeat in their attempts to keep Grealish on Merseyside beyond this season.
However, the Blues would do well to find someone better valued than Vargas in today’s market, and a January approach may not only be sensible but vital for the long term.
