David Moyes has to be careful amid Harrison Armstrong to Everton return latest
Harrison Armstrong looks set to be recalled by Everton in the winter transfer window.
Armstrong has impressed away from Everton, starting regularly on loan in the Championship with Preston North End.
Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom has praised the Everton loanee for his impact in the second tier, but it appears he will not have him for much longer.
David Moyes confirmed his plans for the young midfielder, after the win over Nottingham Forest, saying: “[It is] more than likely, we will bring Harrison Armstrong back”
Why Everton cannot afford to make wrong decision on Armstrong
Armstong is developing nicely away from Everton, featuring in 17 matches in the second-tier since he was loaned out.
If he returns to the Toffees, and hardly plays, then it will be a waste of time for both parties, and he will suffer.

Given that he is an 18-year-old, he needs to be playing regualrly, rather than sitting on the bench for the Blues.

What has Armstrong said about a potential return to Everton?
Armstrong confirmed that the decision, whether he stays at the Lancashire club, is not his to make.
Earlier this month, in quotes published by the Lancashire Post, he said: “Well, I think it’s out of my hands. Whatever decision is made, I just hope it’s the best for my development.
I’d love to stay here and contribute to a season. Hopefully, we can get in and amongst the play-offs but like I said, I’m just leaving it to the hands of the people who control it and just getting on with my football.”
- Armstong has played 17 times in the Championship, with 13 starts in that time
- He has one goal and one assist in those matches
- He has featured eight times for Everton’s senior side in the past
Armstong has made it clear that his development comes first, and he needs to be playing senior football constantly, if that is the case.
Moyes needs to heed his message, and if he is not planning to give him many opportunities, and just wants him for squad depth, he should not bring him back.
Armstrong will likely be a star for the Toffees in the future, but whether he is ready right now and can get into the team, that is a different matter entirely.
It should help that he has half a season of experience under his belt, but that will count for nothing if he is sitting on the bench each week for the Premier League outfit.
