David Moyes’ worst Iliman Ndiaye scenario comes true after worrying scenes away from Everton
Everton don’t want to imagine what life would be like without Iliman Ndiaye.
David Moyes is currently without Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye, as the pair are partaking in the African Cup of Nations tournament with Senegal.
Everton managed to get a result against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, but it was still clear to see that the Toffees boss lacked a bit of firepower in forward areas.
Ndiaye is arguably Everton’s best player, and has been consistently immense throughout this season.
The last thing that Moyes will have wanted is for his 25-year-old star to come back to Merseyside injured. But that may be what’s unfolding after the latest developments.

Iliman Ndiaye to undergo tests after injury worry with Senegal
Senegal have booked their place in the knockout stages of AFCON after thrashing Benin 3-0 on Tuesday, in a match where Ndiaye and Gueye featured from the off.
Gueye saw out the full game, but Moyes’ main forward was unable to.
And it turns out Ndiaye’s withdrawal was in fact due to an injury issue.
- Ndiaye was subbed off at half-time
- Despite only playing 45 minutes, he completed the most dribbles in the match (three)
- Ndiaye was fouled three times, and this is where the problem may have stemmed from
Journalist Lee-Roy Kabeya shared an update to his X account, which detailed Ndiaye’s situation and what the next steps are for him and a team-mate.
The translation of Kabeya’s comments read: “Lamine Camara’s ankle twisted badly, but it was more of a scare than anything serious.
“The player was substituted as a precaution and will undergo tests tomorrow. It’s worth noting that Iliman Ndiaye was also substituted for the same reason. Tests tomorrow.”
It’s not known if this is an injury that was picked up in training, which bothered Ndiaye in the match or not.
However, the suggestion is that he will have tests to rule out anything sinister, but that is a worry in itself.
One key Everton benefit if Ndiaye is injured
The January transfer window is about to open, and there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Ndiaye leaving the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Many clubs are said to be interested in the winger, and it’s not hard to see why, with the tricky dribbler already on six goal contributions for the Toffees this Premier League campaign.
However, with Ndiaye’s injury worry, if he is out for more than a month, it could deter sides from making bids for the attacker.
If Everton truly want to achieve European football this season, then Ndiaye needs to stay on Merseyside.
Either way, Moyes will be hoping it’s not too serious for his gem.
