Everton terminate attacker loan deal as thank-you message sent

Everton have recalled Martin Sherif from his loan spell at Rotherham United.

The 19-year-old joined the League One outfit in the summer and played 10 times for them, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Sherif’s been bogged by injuries at AESSEAL New York Stadium, and it looks like the Toffees feel it’s best for him to return in January.

David Moyes could also recall Harrison Armstrong from Preston North End, and it remains to be seen whether the midfielder and the Dutch centre-forward will have a role to play in Merseyside until the end of the season.

Rotherham United send parting message to Martin Sherif after Everton decision

Rotherham have thanked Sherif for his contributions in South Yorkshire as he returns to the Toffees.

The Millers aren’t really doing well in League One, sitting in the relegation zone with just six wins from 23 matches.

Sherif’s last appearance for Rotherham came in their 0-0 draw against Luton Town in November, playing 45 minutes, and his situation at the Hill Dickinson Stadium should be clarified soon.

A statement from the Millers on 31 December said, “Everyone at the club would like to thank Martin for his contribution whilst with the Millers and wish him all the best for the future.”

Beto and Thierno Barry have been unreliable under Moyes, but it’s hard to see Sherif getting any minutes at the Merseyside outfit right now.

It’s clear that the youngster still needs to grow and develop, and another loan move to a team where game time is guaranteed would definitely be the best option for both parties.

Friedkin Group to help David Moyes get new striker over the line

Roma’s Artem Dovbyk has been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and The Friedkin Group can help the Toffees get him.

Dan Friedkin owns the Serie A giants and can certainly pull some strings to bring the Ukraine international to Everton.

Dovbyk’s Serie A record this season

While it will undoubtedly be difficult to sign a quality number nine midway through the season, the former Girona star seems like the perfect short-term solution for the Blues.

Dovbyk has struggled for regular starts under Gian Piero Gasperini, and Merseyside could potentially be the perfect place for him to kickstart his career.
