David Moyes to have fingers crossed as injury update shared on Everton star Iliman Ndiaye

Iliman Ndiaye’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations has proved concerning for Everton.

Everton are missing Ndiaye’s creative flair, with the Senegal star providing four goals and two assists so far this season.

Ndiaye gave Everton an injury scare, as he was substituted in the Lions of Teranga’s clash with Benin on 30 December as a precaution and had to undergo tests.

However, David Moyes will be hoping for the best after a new update was shared on the 25-year-old’s fitness.

Ndiaye has been in brilliant form for the Toffees.

Iliman Ndiaye set to return to training away from Everton

The last thing that Everton need is another injury issue, as the squad is already really depleted.

Journalist Lee-Roy Kabeya, who first broke the news of Ndiaye‘s issue, clarified the results of the tests on 2 January.

It is positive for Moyes, as their star man is expected to return to training imminently, after missing yesterday’s session.

Why Everton need Ndiaye to return as soon as possible

Ndiaye is their most dangerous player, and he has really stepped up this season in a new position on the right flank.

He was shifted to that flank after notching nine goals last season, after Jack Grealish was signed on loan in the summer, but he has adapted to the new role brilliantly.

The Blues need him back as soon as possible, as they have struggled to score goals so far, since he has been away from Merseyside.

James Garner and Thierno Barry notched strikes against Nottingham Forest to secure victory, but they are not reliable regular goalscorers or creators like the Senegal star is.

Given the injury issues within the squad at the moment, with Grealish not fully fit and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall still out, the Blues need the former Marseille man to come back fully fit from his participation in the tournament.

They cannot afford for him to be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, as the backup options like Dwight McNeil and Tyler Dibling have not produced, so the latest update will be a relief for Moyes and Co.

They will be praying that he does not pick up any further problems as his nation progresses further into the competition, but that remains to be seen.
