Jorgen Strand Larsen deal to be progressed at Everton as Ivan Toney expectation shared

Everton are in the market for a new striker in January.

Everton have business to do in January, and the priority remains on the arrival of a new striker, given the struggles showcased by both Thierno Barry and Beto.

Only Nottingham Forest and Wolves have scored fewer goals than the Toffees this season, who have found the net on 20 occasions in 19 games.

The Merseysiders are ready to rectify that concern in the coming weeks, with a new update emerging on both Ivan Toney and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Everton may drop out of Ivan Toney race

Toney was heavily linked with a move to Everton prior to the January window opening, and it was a move that would benefit both parties.

For Toney, it would be a chance to stake a claim for a spot in England’s World Cup squad this summer, while for Everton, they would be getting a proven Premier League scorer.

However, a report from the Mirror states that a deal for the Brentford forward is expected to be too expensive, though a move for Larsen could follow.

Larsen has been linked with several Premier League clubs despite his lack of form with Wolves this season, with a January exit looking likely.

The 25-year-old Norwegian international scored 14 times in the Premier League last season, and if a deal for Toney is to fall through due to the finances, the Toffees may push forward further with their interest in Larsen.

Which other strikers have Everton been linked with?

Aside from the aforementioned Toney and Larsen, Artem Dovbyk has been mooted as a target for Everton, with Leeds and Sunderland also holding an interest.

A swap deal involving Beto had previously been reported, though rumours surrounding that have since died down.

Dovbyk scored 17 goals in 45 appearances for Roma last season, but has been afforded just three Serie A starts, having fallen out of favour.

Evan Ferguson has since taken the starting spot at the Italian outfit, with two goals and two assists in his 13 appearances for the club.

Everton certainly need a new striker, and the longer their search goes on, the harder it will become.
