David Moyes has lost patience with Everton summer signing, he was atrocious vs Brentford
David Moyes was badly let down as Everton had a horrific afternoon at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton were beaten 4-2 by Brentford on Sunday, with Igor Thiago firing in a hat-trick for the visitors as they ran riot on Merseyside.
Keith Andrews’ side raced into a three-goal lead before Beto restored some hope with a neat header midway through the second half.
Thiago added a fourth for Brentford in the 88th minute to put the game beyond the Toffees’ reach, and Thierno Barry’s late consolation would have done little to improve Moyes’ mood.
David Moyes hooks Tyler Dibling after first half performance
Tyler Dibling has struggled for game time at Everton since completing a £40million move from Southampton over the summer.
With Iliman Ndiaye away at the Africa Cup of Nations, though, the 19-year-old winger has been given a chance to prove himself.
Dibling has started each of the last three Everton matches, but he failed to deliver in the defeat to Brentford.
The teenager managed just 17 touches before the break, and with the Toffees 1-0 down at half-time, Moyes opted for a double change, replacing Dibling and Dwight McNeil with Merlin Rohl and Beto.
Beto managed to get himself on the scoresheet, but the substitutions didn’t have the desired effect, as Everton fell to their third defeat in five games.
Tyler Dibling failing to live up to expectations
After coming in for £40m, Dibling is under big pressure to live up to his price tag and deliver for Moyes’ side.
The youngster was atrocious against Brentford, though, and showed exactly why he has struggled for game time so far this season.
In fairness to the former Southampton man, he was badly isolated out on the right wing, with Jake O’Brien providing no support from full back.
With Senegal reaching the AFCON quarter finals, Ndiaye will not be returning to Merseyside anytime soon, so Dibling may get another chance to prove his doubters wrong.
