Everton’s diamond in the rough gives David Moyes positive despite setback loss to Brentford
Harrison Armstrong was the biggest revelation to come out of Everton’s loss to Brentford on Sunday.
Igor Thiago gave David Moyes nightmares after bagging a hat-trick in the Toffees’ 4-2 loss against Brentford at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton were the favourites to win the clash, and quit frankly, nobody saw this result coming.
Before the showdown, Moyes confirmed that Everton had recalled Armstrong from his successful loan spell with Championship side Preston North End.
The Everton boss has clearly been impressed by the midfielder, and after making a strong cameo appearance against the Bees, the youngster is surely in contention for a starting spot.
Harrison Armstrong’s passing direction proves Everton value
James Garner has been fantastic for Everton this season, and there is still uncertainty regarding his future on Merseyside, with top clubs monitoring the 24-year-old.
The Blues have enjoyed terrific displays by Garner, but are missing another player who can complement him in a midfield pivot.
Armstrong is the answer.

As highlighted by Sofascore, in the 13 minutes that Armstrong was on the field, he recorded a 100 per cent passing accuracy, and only knew one direction to take the ball – forwards.
He also managed to gather a rating of 6.6 in a short space of time. To put that into perspective, the rating was higher than Merlin Rohl’s, who only got a 6.2, despite playing a full half.
Not only is he good with the ball at his feet, but Armstrong can also get stuck in and stop the opposition from hurting his own side.
Tim Iroegbunam is finished at Everton
There have been lots of questions over Tim Iroegbunam and whether the midfielder is good enough to play in the Premier League or not.
With Idrissa Gana Gueye away with Iliman Ndiaye for Senegal’s African Cup of Nations tournament, Iroegbunam has been given the perfect chance to stake his claim in the middle of Everton’s team.
But the former Aston Villa man seems to be failing to do so, and the emergence of Armstrong will only pile more pressure on the 22-year-old.
A loan move could be sensible for Iroegbunam as Moyes truly needs to weigh up how much game time the Englishman will truly get in the second half of the campaign.
If Armstrong can hit the ground running, Iroegbunam is as good as gone.
