James Garner new contract timeline emerges as Everton get to work
Everton are expected to agree a new contract with James Garner next.
Jordan Pickford was the latest name to put pen to paper at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after the likes of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.
David Moyes will surely want Garner to stay, and the Scottish manager may soon be given good news in that regard.
The Merseyside outfit are hoping to build a special team in L4, and the former Manchester United ace will definitely play a key role in that.
Everton to strike James Garner agreement soon
Alan Myers expects the Toffees to tie Garner down to a new contract in January.
The former Sky Sports journalist believes the midfielder will be the next player whose future the Blues will secure at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
As things stand, the 24-year-old will enter the final year of the current deal at the end of the season, and the Merseyside outfit should definitely prioritise his renewal.
Speaking to Everton.News on 5 January, Myers said, “I think it’s the next one to be done, I’d expect something in January.”
Garner has been influential under Moyes this season, and it would make sense for the 62-year-old to push for the midfielder’s contract extension in L4.
The Englishman has contributed everywhere with his versatility, making him a valuable asset for the Scottish manager.
David Moyes has another contract priority at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Michael Keane’s performances have gone under the radar at Everton this season, with the centre-back putting in some consistently good performances.
The English defender didn’t have the best of evenings against Brentford at home as Igor Thiago scored a hat-trick in the Toffees’ 4-2 defeat, but he has done enough in other games to be offered a new contract.

In the absence of Jarrad Branthwaite, Tarkowski and Keane have held the fort down at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, boasting the joint-sixth best defence in the Premier League.
While the 32-year-old may not be a starter for long, it would make sense to have him in the squad to maintain quality in depth.
