Alan Myers drops David Moyes sack update at Everton as yet another manager is dismissed
Managers are dropping like flies across England and Scotland lately.
After Enzo Maresca left Chelsea on New Year’s Day, Ruben Amorim and Wilfried Nancy were sacked by Manchester United and Celtic, respectively, on Monday.
On Tuesday morning, West Brom axed Ryan Mason, showing that clubs really aren’t scared to seek a change in the dugout with the January transfer window now open.
Everton manager David Moyes has come under a bit of pressure himself lately, especially as he’s overseen just one win in the Blues’ last five Premier League games.
On Sunday, Everton lost 4-2 at home to Brentford in their latest setback.
And, with the Toffees now down in 12th in the Premier League table and dreams of a return to European football diminishing, there are some fans on social media questioning whether Moyes is the right man to continue at the helm.

Will David Moyes last the season at Everton?
Despite the club’s recent poor form, former Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers doesn’t see Moyes leaving the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season.
In fact, Myers expects the Scot to be in charge of Everton in the 2026-27 campaign as well.
“I see him here this season and next, at least,” Myers told Everton News.
“I think a trophy is a major ambition, which is long overdue.
“It won’t be easy, as realistically, the FA Cup is all we can go for. However, a good top-eight finish would be progress for me.”
Moyes’ contract situation detailed
When Everton re-hired Moyes in January 2025, the former Manchester United and West Ham manager signed a two-and-a-half-year deal that lasts until the summer of 2027.
If Myers’ update is correct, it means that Moyes will more than likely leave at the end of next season when his contract expires.
He’ll be 64 years old when his Everton contract expires, and he’ll have spent just shy of 30 years in management after starting his career at Preston in 1998.
| Club | Years managed | Games managed |
| Preston | 1998-02 | 218 |
| Everton | 2002-13 | 518 |
| Man United | 2013-14 | 51 |
| Real Sociedad | 2014-15 | 42 |
| Sunderland | 2016-17 | 43 |
| West Ham | 2017-18 | 31 |
| West Ham | 2019-24 | 230 |
| Everton | 2025-present | 42 |
Who knows what will be next for both Everton and Moyes if they do part ways either now or at the end of the 2026-27 campaign?
However, one thing is for sure, there’s another club in the Premier League right now that will be massively regretting getting rid of Moyes when they did, because they now seem to be sliding uncontrollably into the Championship.
