John Textor to blame as David Moyes transfer plan ruined at Everton
Everton supporters would love to see the back of John Textor once and for all.
Textor failed to with his bid to buy Everton, with the Friedkin Group eventually taking over on Merseyside instead.
However, the ex-Crystal Palace owner still seems to constantly get in the way of their potential transfer dealings.
Everton have been linked with several players from Textor-owned clubs but a deal never seems to materialise and the same thing is set to happen again.
John Textor’s latest incompetence destroys Everton move for Vitinho
Everton were reportedly plotting a move for Vitinho, with David Moyes keen on a right-back to reinforce his squad.
However, the 26-year-old former Burnley star looks set to stay in Brazil, after the Rio de Janeiro-based club were handed a three-window transfer ban from FIFA.
While a team can still sell during a transfer ban, they cannot register new players, which means they would not want to lose the defender, and not be able to secure a replacement.
The Textor-owned club failed to pay a £15.4million fee for striker Thiago Almada in 2024, and they have been punished as a result, with the 60-year-old businessman’s incompetence clear to see.
It is just his latest slip-up, as he has already overseen significant financial issues at Lyon, and his involvement with Palace saw them relegated from the Europa League into the Europa Conference League.
What next for Everton’s right-back search?
The Blues need a new option, because Jake O’Brien is not a natural right-back, and does not possess the attacking impetus that they need from the flanks.
Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson are injury-prone and cannot be relied upon, so the desire for an addition makes sense.
The Toffees have also been linked with Leeds United star Jayden Bogle, but he looks set to stay at Elland Road after Daniel Farke ruled out an exit.
Moyes’ side have been linked with Strasbourg’s Guela Doué and Blackburn Rovers’ Ryan Alebiosu in recent weeks, but it remains to be seen whether they can pull off those moves.
One thing seems clear, they will not be adding Vitinho to their ranks, with Textor once again coming back to haunt the Blues in the market after his failed takeover bid.
