David Moyes has every right to fume as ex-FIFA official reacts to new Everton vs Wolves footage

David Moyes was left raging after Everton drew with Wolves at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Michael Keane was controversially sent off late in the game, but not before he had opened the scoring for Moyes’ side in the first half.

Mateus Mane levelled the contest midway through the second period, before both Keane and Jack Grealish were dismissed, leaving Everton with just nine men for the closing stages of the contest.

The Toffees managed to hang onto a point despite the disadvantage, but will feel aggrieved after footage showed that Wolves themselves should’ve been reduced to 10 men.

Hwang Hee-Chan escapes certain red card

Keane was dismissed for supposedly pulling the hair of Tolu Arokodare, with Moyes voicing his opposition to the decision after the game.

To make matters worse, moments before the centre-back was sent off, Hwang Hee-chan escaped what many Everton fans believe should have been a certain red card.

The Wolves attacker went steaming into the back of Harrison Armstrong, with his studs raking down the back of the 18-year-old’s calf and sending him to the floor.

Referee Thomas Kirk booked Hwang for the challenge, with VAR opting not to upgrade it to a red card.

However, former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett is adamant that Hwang should have been dismissed.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Hackett said: “This is a challenge that should have seen the Wolves player receive a red card.

“This incident should have resulted in the intervention of the VAR and the referee sent to the screen.”

Thomas Kirk praised for sending off Jack Grealish

Despite several controversial moments, Hackett believes that Kirk is a referee “on the up” after he dismissed Grealish for a sarcastic clap.

The Everton winger was sent off for two yellow cards in the space of just four minutes, with the second booking coming after he aggressively applauded the referee for giving him a free-kick.

Hackett believes that Kirk showed courage to dismiss Grealish and deserves credit for the decision.

He said: “If you applaud the referee’s decision so publicly, that’s a yellow card offence. Credit to the referee for showing this courage. He’s certainly a referee on the up.”
