‘David Moyes spot on with Jack Grealish defence’ as MOTD footage emerges of Everton controversy vs Wolves

Jack Grealish was sent off for dissent as Everton drew to Wolves on Wednesday.

Everton played out a 1-1 draw with Wolves at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, in yet another frustrating home result for the Toffees.

David Moyes’ side truly let themselves down in the second half, with Michael Keane sent off against Wolves for pulling Tolu Arokodare’s hair.

That sparked unsavoury scenes from the hosts despite Mike Dean being in agreement with Keane’s red card for the Blues.

Grealish felt the frustration more than most and was eventually sent off himself, but didn’t get any sympathy from his manager.

Stephen Warnock agrees with Jack Grealish red card vs Wolves

Grealish could sign for Everton permanently in the summer after what has been a positive loan spell from Manchester City this campaign.

The Englishman has provided plenty of experience to this Toffees side, but certainly lost his head against the Old Gold.

Keane’s sending off clearly got under his skin as he was shown a yellow card just four minutes after the red, after mouthing off at referee Thomas Kirk.

He followed that up by sarcastically clapping at the match official three minutes later before being shown his second yellow card.

Moyes wasn’t one for defending the 30-year-old, and after reviewing footage on Match of the Day, neither was Stephen Warnock.

He said: “Grealish picks up a second yellow for clapping the referee. It’s a silly, silly mistake. Two bookings in the last five minutes of the game is really poor from Jack Grealish, who’s an experienced player.

He’s [Moyes] right not to have a defence for himself. I think he was more aggrieved by the Michael Keane one.

What did David Moyes say about Grealish red card?

There was a shock around the Hill Dickinson Stadium when Kirk pulled out a second yellow and a red towards the attacking midfielder.

Frustrating for the Toffees, there was little complaint to be had after Grealish clearly showed dissent towards the referee with his sarcastic clapping.

Although frustration surrounded the Keane decision, Moyes couldn’t complain about the Man City loanee being shown his marching orders.

When asked if there was any excuse, he said: “No. None at all.

That sums up the decision in just four words.

It was a hugely frustrating call, but one that came off the back of a controversial moment against Keane.
