Everton monitor Serie A duo to solve key David Moyes issue
Everton could finally secure a new right-back for David Moyes.
Everton failed to sign a right-back in the summer, leaving the Scotsman to utilise Jake O’Brien, who is naturally a centre-back in the position.
The position is understood to be on the agenda this month, with the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit looking for a new option.
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas claimed on 9 January that the Toffees were looking to Serie A to solve the issue that has haunted Moyes all season.

Who are Everton looking at for right-back signing?
Everton were linked with Botafogo’s Vitinho, but that move looks extremely unlikely, given that the Brazilian outfit is under a transfer ban.
Now, their attention seems to have turned to the Italian market, with the report naming Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Emil Holm as players that they are monitoring.
It states that Moyes’ side are considering making moves for the Serie A duo, who play for Genoa and Bologna respectively.
Who are Everton targets Norton-Cuffy and Holm?
Norton-Cuffy is likely to be the more well-known player of the two to English supporters, as he used to be on Arsenal’s books as a youngster.
The 21-year-old moved to Genoa after several loan spells away from the Emirates Stadium, and has made 34 appearances for the Italian outfit since joining in 2024.
He was part of the England-U21 side, managed by ex-Toffees star Lee Carsley, that won the UEFA Under-21 European Championships last summer, coming off the bench in five of the six matches.
Meanwhile, Holm is more experienced, at 25 years old, and is an established Sweden international, with 16 caps to his name so far for the national team.
He has been with Bologna since 2024, recording two goals and six assists in 46 appearances, showing his attacking tendencies, something that the Blues lack right now from their full-backs.
Either option would be better than what Everton have right now, and they could definitely solve Moyes’ problems in the position, which have hindered their progress this season.
It makes sense that the Friedkins are looking in Italy, given their connections to the country with AS Roma, and it could ultimately benefit the Merseysiders.
