‘Everton at standstill over what David Moyes wants, but £12m deal gets a thumbs up from me’
Everton have been urged to land a cut-price fee for Gabriel Sara to appease David Moyes.
The Toffees have an increasingly limited squad right now, something that wasn’t helped by Jack Grealish’s red card against Wolves.
Holes are emerging at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.
That has seen Everton show interest in Sara at Galatasaray this winter with a view to making a deal happen this month.
Moyes is holding out for January additions, but has been warned against splashing the cash on Sara in the coming weeks.
Bryan King wary of Gabriel Sara signing at Everton
Sara could cost Everton upwards of £17million in the coming weeks, with various other Premier League sides showing an interest.
The Brazilian would provide midfield versatility that could prove to be a useful asset to the Toffees moving forward.
The 26-year-old is a regular in the Super Lig, but his recent performances haven’t been enough to impress Bryan King.
An ally of Moyes and former Everton scout, King believes a fee of £12m would be more appealing for a player who he doesn’t see as a starting XI improvement on Merseyside.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “His name doesn’t do anything for me. I think Everton needs more quality than that.
“Moyes has been on about squad depth for the past six months, and they seem to be standing still.
“There are players needed at Everton, but a player from Galatasaray does nothing for me, and I’m not sure he’ll do much for the fans either.
“If he’d cost £12m then I might have been interested because he’s still got something to prove.
“He wouldn’t go straight into the team, and he’s not better than what they’ve already got.“
David Moyes could build on Sara’s English football experience
King may not be sold on the midfielder, but there is certainly positives to his game that could be of interest to Moyes.
Sara has done well in Turkyie, but what may catch the Scot’s eye is his previous excellence in the Championship with Norwich City.
He contributed to 27 goals across all competitions in his final season with the Canaries before he earned his continental switch, no mean feat in the second tier.
If Moyes could get that sort of output from Sara on Merseyside, even a £17m fee could prove to be a bargain for the Toffees.
