Everton target who plays like Daniel Munoz could fix major David Moyes problem

Everton’s hunt to sign a right-back continues, and David Moyes could have found the perfect player for his system.

In a squad that has been exposed for its lack of depth throughout 2025/26, centre-back Jake O’Brien has been Everton’s primary right-back option.

For all of his talents defensively, O’Brien doesn’t possess the attacking prowess to succeed on the flank for the Toffees, and that is why a new right-back is needed.

Moyes wants to sign someone who boasts athleticism, defensive nous, and ball-carrying abilities rolled into one, with one candidate arguably emerging as the best option.

Everton must sign Emil Holm to fix right-back problem

Everton have shown an interest in Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi to become their first-choice right-back ahead of O’Brien and Nathan Patterson.

Former scout Bryan King told Goodison News that Everton could sign El Ouahdi for as little as £5million this month, ahead of Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

However, the Moroccan international isn’t the only one piquing their interest, as Everton have offered Patterson plus cash to sign Bologna’s Emil Holm.

Standing at 6′ 4″, Holm is a huge aerial presence in defence, but he also boasts exceptional ball-carrying qualities and an incredible engine to maraud up and down the right flank.

The Swedish international is also proficient with his decision-making, having racked up four assists in nine Serie A appearances in 2025/26.

Holm’s physical attributes, as well as his attacking prowess, make him the ideal player to link up with Iliman Ndiaye on the wing.

Holm has been compared to Daniel Munoz

The thought of Holm building a partnership with Ndiaye is exciting, as his runs from deep could open more space for the Senegalese speedster to cut inside.

Overlapping runs have rarely featured under Moyes since he’s had to call upon O’Brien, but capturing the 25-year-old would enable them to return.

To fuel excitement over a potential transfer, Holm has also been compared to Crystal Palace wing-back Daniel Munoz, presumably due to his never-ending stamina and lung-bursting runs for ninety minutes.

Munoz is the fifth-most statistically similar player to Holm, according to FBref, which suggests the Swede would add another dimension to Moyes’ attack.

During his time at Palace, Munoz has arguably become the Premier League’s best attacking right back due to his relentless energy and ability to find space in the final third.

That is something supporters will hope to see at Everton if they end up sealing a transfer for Holm.
