Everton could make money back as second Serie A club in for Tim Iroegbunam

Everton may well have a big decision to make over midfielder Tim Iroegbunam as a second Serie A club circle for his signature.

Iroegbunam has already been linked with AC Milan this month, while other clubs on the continent have also been credited with an interest.

The 22-year-old joined Everton from Aston Villa in a £9million transfer in the 2024 summer transfer window and has made 35 appearances in all competitions.

David Moyes has always demanded more of Iroegbunam, but it may well be that the midfielder is now heading for an exit.

Lazio want to sign Tim Iroegbunam as possible fee shared

Everton’s winter transfer business so far has been very quiet, with Harry Tyrer’s move to Cardiff City the only permanent incoming our outgoing business to date.

That will surely change before the window closes on 2 February, though, with Beto potentially on his way out of Everton.

The future of Iroegbunam has also now been thrown into doubt amid a report from abroad on Saturday.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Bendoni reported via X that Lazio are the latest Serie A side to show an interest in the former Aston Villa ace.

It is claimed that Lazio will likely intensify that interest should they see a player depart Stadio Olimpico.

Meanwhile, fellow Sky Sport Italia journalist Manuele Baiocchini adds that Lazio could step forward with an official offer of up to £8.6m, which is roughly what Everton paid to sign Iroegbunam.

Should Everton consider cashing in on Iroegbunam

As per Sofascore data, Iroegbunam has statistically been Everton’s eighth-best player this season.

He has featured 19 times in all competitions this season, starting 12 of those, and has averaged around 55 minutes per appearance.

While it is fair to say Iroegbunam has not exactly torn things up since joining from Villa, he has been a reliable presence for Moyes to call upon.

Selling the Englishman for the same amount Everton paid for him 18 months ago, then, would be a bizarre move.

Unless there is an upgrade out there that Everton have their eyes on, which seems unlikely, then the smart option is to reject any offer that is forthcoming from Lazio.
