Everton eye Femi Seriki transfer as bargain deal on cards

Sheffield United’s Femi Seriki has emerged as a potential addition for Everton.

David Moyes is desperate to add a right-back to his squad, as it has been a problem position all season for the Blues.

Everton failed to sign one in the summer, which has left the Toffees lacking an edge on the right flank, as Jake O’Brien does not have the natural attacking flair of the modern full-back.

Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson are the back-up options, but they are both injury-prone and cannot be relied upon.

Everton want Femi Seriki as scouting mission emerges

Everton have been linked with Brooke Norton-Cuffy, but they may have found an alternative to the Genoa man.

A report from Sportsboom on 26 January claims that Moyes’ scouts have been monitoring Seriki, who could be available for a bargain fee in the summer.

It states that the 23-year-old could be tempted by a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium due to the wages that would be on offer on Merseyside.

Who is Everton target Seriki?

Seriki has emerged as one of the best right-backs in the Championship recently, and has just 18 months left on his deal at Bramall Lane.

He is an explosive, attacking-minded right-back who likes to get forward, which would be a huge bonus for Moyes’ side.

The Englishman has notched one goal and four assists in 22 second-tier appearances, showing his attacking intent.

Despite that, he is still a strong defender, winning 57 per cent of his ground duels and 50 per cent of his aerial duels in the Championship this season.

Seriki would be an interesting addition to the squad and would solve an issue that has haunted Moyes all season, and he also counts as homegrown, so that is another plus.

If he moved to the Toffees, it would cap a remarkable rise that has seen him sent out on loan four times, with spells at Beerschot, Boston United, Rochdale and Rotherham United.

The fact that he may not move until the summer is a slight problem, but ultimately, he would be a brilliant signing and is worth the wait, even if the Blues ideally need a right-back this month.
