Thierno Barry stars as David Moyes gamble fails in 4/10 – Everton player ratings vs Leeds

Everton rescued a 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Monday evening.

David Moyes‘ side struggled to create in the first half, and the Whites took the lead at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 26 January through James Justin.

The Blues were looking to go up to seventh, just a point behind Liverpool, but they could not seem to get the job done, even with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye back in the line-up.

However, Thierno Barry struck the equaliser in the 76th minute to send both sides home with a point.

Thierno Barry brilliant in Everton draw

Barry has had his struggles since joining Everton, but he finally appears to be finding his feet in the Premier League.

The France Under-21 international scored his fifth of the campaign with a neat finish past Karl Darlow after he beat Sebastiaan Bornauw to Gueye’s cross.

Barry had three shots in the game, with two on target, and had a total of nine touches in the opposition box, per Sofascore.

He also helped out defensively, making two clearances, one interception and two recoveries in a brilliant display from the beleaguered striker.

The 23-year-old made his mark on proceedings and secured a vital point for his side, he looks to finally be coming good for the Toffees.

Harrison Armstrong dismal as Blues lose

Harrison Armstrong has been brilliant since returning to Everton, but this was not one of his finest nights.

The 19-year-old was hooked at half-time, with Moyes’ gamble to play him in the number 10 role not paying off.

Harrison failed to create a single chance, only attempted 13 passes and made two passes into the final third in a dismal showing from the youngster.

Defensively, he made just four contributions, with one tackle, one clearance, one interception and one recovery.

Obviously, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has only just recovered from the injury that has kept him out of the last seven matches, so it is understandable that he did not start.

However, the decision definitely hampered the hosts.
