Nathan Patterson surely headed for Everton exit door as call made for new transfer
Nathan Patterson could leave Everton before the end of the winter transfer window.
The defender’s time in the Premier League has not gone well for him. After making the switch from Rangers in 2021, Patterson has never really kicked on.
Recently, the 24-year-old was handed a rare start versus Leeds United amid an injury and suspension crisis at Everton.
However, Everton are open to letting him go for £6million, and there have even been suggestions Patterson could be used in a swap deal.
The L3 outfit hav been linked with numerous right-backs, and in the eventuality of a new arrival joining, that would more than likely signal the end of the Scotsman’s spell at Everton.
And now another transfer update could push forward that timeline.
Everton keen on Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy
Everton are in the market for a right-back, and that has been made evident with the transfer links over the last month.
David Moyes’ side had been targeting Zakaria El Ouahdi, but so far a move for the Moroccan has not materialised.
However, now it looks like they have set eyes on a new potential addition.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton are one of the clubs that have started calling for Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
The English right-back has been a key player for the 13th-placed Serie A side this season, starting 19 of their 22 league games this season.
Everton do face competition from within the Premier League and from other Italian outfits as the transfer deadline continues to draw close.
And Patterson will certainly be keeping a close eye on the developments.
Nathan Patterson would have to leave if Norton-Cuffy deal agreed
Patterson will have the upcoming World Cup on his mind, and with Scotland qualified, he will want to give himself the best chance of representing his nation.
The Everton defender has found his game time limited at Hill Dickinson, with Jake O’Brien trusted more out on the wide right of the backline by Moyes.
However, he has still found himself included within the Scottish camp despite this being the case.
Patterson will want to be up to match speed and give Steve Clarke a reason to start him in the upcoming tournament.
He has started just four times for the Toffees this season and has only made seven appearances in all competitions.

Additionally, his injury record has not been great, making replacing him an attractive prospect for the Merseyside club.
- Nathan Patterson has had seven separate injuries at Everton since joining in 2022
- Patterson has missed 57 games for club and country in that period
- He has been injured for 392 total days as an Everton player
Patterson, despite being born in the United Kingdom, is not listed as a homegrown player in the Premier League’s quota.
Bringing in Norton-Cuffy and letting the Scotsman leave would also free up a foreign slot in the Toffees squad.
It will be an important few days for the future of Patterson, who will not want to be third-choice right-back.
