Dwight McNeil exit update drops, and it’s a huge shock for Everton fans

Dwight McNeil has been linked with a move away from Everton throughout the winter transfer window, but on deadline day, talks for his exit have ramped up.

The Everton forward has seen a lack of minutes this season, starting just seven games in the Premier League, and is no doubt unhappy with his own situation.

Over the course of deadline day, Crystal Palace has emerged as a potential destination for the Englishman, but it remained to be seen if a deal could get over the line.

Now, there has been a huge update on the progress of those talks and the future of McNeil.

Crystal Palace hopeful of securing Dwight McNeil transfer

Crystal Palace are looking to complete a deadline day swoop for McNeil, and the London club have certainly put themselves up against the wall.

The winter window is beginning to draw to a close, but that appears to not be worrying the Palace chiefs.

According to the London Evening Standard, Palace are “hopeful that a deal worth around £20million will be concluded in time.”

McNeil has been a fringe player throughout his season for David Moyes, and recouping that level of fee is certainly massive.

Jamie Carragher has urged Everton to cash in on McNeil, and it seems in Crystal Palace’s eyes, they will do just that.

How long do Crystal Palace have to sign Everton’s McNeil?

The winter transfer does close today at 7pm GMT, but teams are able to submit deal sheets that can extend the period they have to complete all relevant documents.

This extension lasts for two hours, meaning if Palace submit the deal sheet, they will have until 9pm to sign McNeil.

Oliver Glasner’s side has spent big in the attacking market this window, but the move for McNeil has come as a surprise.

It is, of course, a race against time for both the Eagles and the Toffees, but it is a circumstance that happens in most transfer windows, and with Palace hopeful of the deal going through, it appears McNeil’s stay on Merseyside is coming to an end.

There have been deals throughout the years that have collapsed due to the documents not being completed, so for now, if a deal sheet is submitted, it looks to be a waiting game until that 9pm deadline.
