Fenerbahce make statement about Everton-linked Youssef En-Nesyri as transfer row erupts

Everton were in the market for forwards this winter, with Youssef En-Nesyri one of the biggest links.

The Fenerbahce striker scored 20 goals in 34 Turkish league games last season, and this campaign, he has seven in 16 appearances.

En-Nesyri wanted to leave Turkey and had submitted a transfer request, opening the door to a move away.

In the dying days of the winter transfer window, Everton submitted a loan-to-buy offer for En-Nesyri, but that was not accepted.

Instead, the Toffees turned their attentions to Chelsea’s Tyrique George and have decided to stick with Thierno Barry and Beto.

However, En-Nesyri has been embroiled in quite the transfer drama since.

Fenerbahce release statement on Youssef En-Nesyri after transfer collapse

While Everton were unable to agree a deal to sign En-Nesyri, Fenerbahce did accept an offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad.

The deal would have seen N’Golo Kante move to the Turkish capital in a swap deal for the Moroccan.

Everything looked to be going well, with both sides happy with the deal, but in the end, the move never went through.

This has been due to documents not being signed in time, and ultimately the transfer collapsed.

Fenerbahce have since released a statement, passing the blame to the Saudi Pro League club in what looks to be quite a row. The Istanbul club claim they did everything correctly on their part.

They said: “Due to the erroneous entry of the relevant TMS information by the opposing club, the procedures could not be completed within the transfer registration period independently of our club.”

The Turkish club apologised to supporters for the incident and stated they sought an extension to complete the deal, but it was not granted.

Everton had their own En-Nesyri saga on deadline day

Likewise with the situation at Hill Dickinson Stadium involving Dwight McNeil, En-Nesyri will now have to be reintegrated back into the Fenerbahce squad.

However, in McNeil’s case, that deal did not collapse due to running out of time, but rather Crystal Palace making a last-minute U-turn, with Steve Parish going ‘missing’ during negotiations.

The winger will be devastated after going through the whole procedure of the transfer, including completing his medical for the London club.

It was made clear by McNeil’s partner just how much it affected them, as she made a statement on social media

Everton had looked to get a good deal, with £20million the fee on offer. However, now, McNeil will have to wait until the summer to seek a move away.
