Nathan Patterson wanted by club who recently achieved a ‘miracle’ in new Everton exit update
Deadline day is over, but the news involving Everton players is still coming through.
Dwight McNeil’s collapsed move to Crystal Palace has been taking the forefront, as the Eagles pulled out of the deal in the 11th hour.
Everton were able to avoid any last-minute complications of their own, with Tyrique George signing at Hill Dickinson.
George is Everton’s sole signing from this winter window, and it was an important one after news of Grealish’s injury.
Grealish is set to be out until mid-April, as the Toffees look to finish in the European places. George will now have a chance to showcase his talent in the Premier League.
However, Nathan Patterson will be able to do the same after he remained at Everton, despite offers from abroad, including from a reigning league champion.
Nathan Patterson wanted by Serie A Champions Napoli
Patterson attracted a lot of interest throughout the winter window, with Serie A club Genoa seeking Patterson’s signature.
In the end, Everton decided against letting Patterson go, as they were not able to find a suitable replacement in time.
However, Genoa were reportedly not the only side that was looking at snapping up the Toffees’ full-back before the window closed.
Napoli’s right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo had recently picked up a knee injury, and while Antonio Conte was waiting to learn the extent of it, they did not sit back in case they received bad news.
According to Calcio Napoli 24, Everton’s Patterson was “one of the names being evaluated” if they needed to sign a right-back before the end of the transfer deadline.

However, in the end, Di Lorenzo’s injury was not as bad as first feared, and they decided to hold off on making any move for another defender.
Patterson could have followed Scott McTominay example
If Scott McTominay is anything to go by, then Scottish players seem to do quite well for the Naples club.
McTominay was a key part of the Napoli side that secured just their fourth ever Serie A title, a feat which Conte referred to as a “miracle”.
Patterson would have had a teammate that would have helped him settle in to life in a foreign country, but instead he will continue to ply his trade on Merseyside.

The future of Patterson is very much still up in the air, and if Napoli require a right-back in the summer, it would not be a shock to see them move again for the Everton player.
The Scotsman has been out of favour for much of his time at the L3 outfit, but after starting three of the last five games, he could be given a chance to save his Everton career.
