Beto finds new opportunity after Everton winter transfer decision
Beto may have given himself a new opportunity prove himself in an Everton shirt after staying on Merseyside despite speculation of an exit in the winter transfer window.
David Moyes was unable to land a new striker in the winter market, as the Friedkin Group only managed to get Tyrique George through the doors for the Toffees.
The Blues are in a good spot in the Premier League, all things considered, and the Everton boss now has to rely on some players in particular who have given little reason to trust.
Thierno Barry has improved his form in front of goal for the Toffees, and Beto’s late goal against Brighton last time out in the Premier League may have been what kept him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton will reassess Beto exit in the summer
Juventus had an approach rejected for Beto after shock news broke of the Bianconeri’s interest in the winter window.
The number nine has missed big chances for Moyes this season, and many supporters have questioned whether or not he should be sold to raise funds for a replacement.
- Beto cost Everton in excess of £25million when they signed him from Udinese in 2023
- He is contracted to the Toffees until June 2027
Everton were heavily tipped to sign Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri, but for one reason or another, the deal didn’t go through.
Which is why the Blues may have been forced to keep Beto beyond the window, giving the 28-year-old a major chance to win Moyes over once more.
However, this season will be over before we know it, which means Everton will reassess Beto’s performances and make one final decision on whether to keep him or get rid of him for good.
The Guinea-Bissau international will only have one year left on his deal after this campaign, which will make the summer possibly Everton’s last chance to get a decent fee back for him.
The real reason why Beto hasn’t worked out at Everton so far
There was once a lot of hype when Everton were said to be signing Beto from Udinese, coming off the back of his fantastic goal-scoring season with the Italian side.
He managed to bag himself 10 goals in 34 games the season before joining the Toffees, and the transfer looked like a steal at the time for £25million.
But it’s shown the risk of buying players from abroad, which is something that clearly plays on the Everton recruitment team’s mind when buying now.
The Serie A is a much slower-paced division than the Premier League, and Beto hasn’t been able to adapt.
He has the most success when the ball isn’t at his feet, and when he has less time to think about what he’s going to do with it.
Hence why Beto was able to bury his first-time effort against Brighton. A goal that may have saved his Everton career in more ways than one.
