David Moyes has to take notice after George Pickford footage emerges from Everton

Jordan Pickford is Everton’s undisputed starting goalkeeper at the moment.

David Moyes has the likes of Tom King and Mark Travers in his first-team squad, but the England stopper is the number one.

Pickford has shown no signs of decline this season, but eventually the Blues will have to find a replacement for the former Sunderland star.

Moyes may already have a solution within the academy, and he has the same surname as the Toffees hero.

What has George Pickford done in the Under-21s?

George Pickford, who is no relation to the current Blues starter, is the primary goalkeeper for Paul Tait’s side.

He was in impressive form again as the Blues’ young stars drew 0-0 away with Arsenal on 6 February, which could put him in Moyes’ path.

Footage released from Everton’s academy account on X, shows the 18-year-old making a stunning save to keep the game scoreless in the dying embers, and surely the Scotsman cannot ignore him for much longer.

Pickford is not the only young goalkeeper starring in Everton youth ranks

The man who shares a name with the Three Lions icon is not the only young goalkeeper making an impression for the Toffees at the moment.

Douglass Lukjanciks is viewed as one of the most exciting talents at Everton, in the academy system, and he saved three penalties in a shootout to send the Blues’ Under-18s through in the FA Youth Cup round of 16 against West Ham.

That is something which the Blues’ first-team starter could not do in the FA Cup third-round shootout exit to Sunderland, albeit the level must be taken into consideration.

Everton’s goalkeeping options.

The Merseysiders have plenty of other talented stoppers in their ranks too, with Goodness Gospel-Eze and Seve Patrick also considered as potential future Toffees stars.

Moyes will be spoiled for choice in the next few years, and he may not even need to dip into the transfer market to find a successor to the senior Pickford when the time comes.

He cannot ignore what the talented goalkeepers in the academy are doing, he needs to keep a close eye on their development in the near future, as it could pay off big time for the L4 outfit.
