Tony Bellew hits out at David Moyes ‘disgrace’ every Everton fan can get fully behind

Tony Bellew shared the thoughts of every Everton fan when he called into talkSPORT on Saturday evening to gloat over Everton’s latest win.

Everton defeated Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage in a game they trailed 1-0 until the final 15 minutes in the capital.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall levelled and then Bernd Leno punched the ball into his own net to take Everton into eighth place.

Jack Grealish led the tributes to Dewsbury-Hall, who helped turn the game on its head pretty much out of nowhere.

And Moyes said after the match he is dreaming of taking Everton back into Europe, just as he did the first time around.

Tony Bellew says David Moyes doesn’t get credit he deserves

Moyes really is doing a remarkable job at Hill Dickinson Stadium and deserves more praise than he is currently getting from those outside Everton.

Everton find themselves two points behind sixth-placed Liverpool, who have a game in hand, and the same number of points behind Brentford in seventh.

It may well be that seventh place is enough for a European spot – sixth certainly would be – and it is therefore little wonder why Moyes is aiming to finish in those spots.

Bellew revelled in the work the Scotsman is doing when calling into talkSPORT shortly after full-time, echoing the views of every Everton fan.

“I don’t think you give the gaffer enough credit. If he was ‘Davide Moysetta’, you’d be raving about him,” Bellew joked. “Because he’s Scottish, everyone bypasses him. It’s a disgrace and a travesty.”

On Everton’s European aspirations, Bellew added: “As long as the gaffer’s backed, he’ll do it right. He has to be backed and he can make the right decisions.

We’re seeing more and more where managers are being removed and there’s more coaching roles – I don’t agree with that. The manager knows who he wants and should choose who comes in and goes out.”

Moyes will not get the chance to add to Everton’s squad again this season, of course, but the sentiment form Bellew is spot on.

If not this season, then a top-seven finish can once again be the aim for Everton in 2026-27.

Everton do something vs Fulham they’ve never achieved before

Everton looked pretty much down and out at half-time against Fulham, but they kept themselves in it and somehow turned things around.

It sparked wild scenes when the winner went in, with Moyes having a good vantage point from up in the stands after his antics last weekend.

Everton were 2-0 winners over Fulham in November’s reverse fixture, meaning they have done a league double over the Cottagers for the first time in their history.

That is pretty remarkable when you consider the storied history between the two clubs.

The Toffees now have a home clash with Bournemouth on Tuesday, which represents a glorious chance to potentially climb even further up the table.

Thanks to Moyes, anything is now possible this season.
