David Moyes is being harsh on Tyler Dibling at Everton for one reason, it’s not what you think
David Moyes is not a fan of Everton’s Tyler Dibling, at least that’s what people think.
Bluenoses have been baffled as to why the Toffees spent the big bucks on the Southampton star this summer, and have yet to be impressed by his performances.
Barring a few glimpses of his obvious talent, Moyes has offered stern words on Dibling, publicly admitting that he needs to improve.
The teenager has been given limited chances on the field for the Blues, but was unable to take his opportunity over the winter period while Iliman Ndiaye was away with Senegal for the African Cup of Nations.
But the Everton boss is the one who sees the Englishman day in, day out at Finch Farm, and will know his true potential.

David Moyes actually rates Tyler Dibling; he’s just frustrated
The frustration isn’t because Moyes doesn’t like Dibling, it’s because he knows how talented he truly is.
Everton had a pretty quiet winter transfer window apart from the late arrival of Tyrique George, and it may be because of how much the Friedkin Group spent on Dibling in the summer.
Maybe Moyes feels a bit resentful towards the winger for this reason, and is just eager for him to show his quality on the pitch sooner rather than later.
- Everton spent a fee in the region of £40million for Dibling
- He signed a four-year contract with the Toffees that runs until the summer of 2029
But time will be the biggest key for Dibling’s development, as even Moyes may have the wrong approach with the youngster.
The Everton boss has called Dibling a “quiet boy”, and the public attention he’s getting might not be good for his confidence – not every player is the same.

There are now just 13 games left in the league, and with the Blues not in any remaining cup competitions, it’s still going to be hard to see how Dibling can change his fortunes at Merseyside this term.
Everton missed winter window trick with Dibling
Dibling was linked with a loan exit in the winter market, but nothing materialised in the end, which, really, is a big shame.
Southampton were tipped for a move for their former star, and St. Mary’s could have been the perfect destination for him to stay until the end of the campaign.
| Games | 13 |
| Goals | 0 |
| Assists | 0 |
But this is just another example of Moyes’ wish for Dibling to come good, because not many teams would turn their nose up at a £40million star for free until the end of the season.
The Toffees should have got something over the line, though, because as previously mentioned, Dibling’s chances to play for now are thin, especially with Ndiaye back for Moyes.
