Keith Hackett: David Moyes must call Howard Webb after latest Everton controversy
David Moyes has been told to arrange a phone call with Howard Webb after Everton crashed to defeat against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Everton lost 2-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but were cruising before controversy struck several times in favour of the visitors.
Iliman Ndiaye opened the scoring from the spot, in what was a correct call, before Amine Adli’s goal somehow stood, and Jake O’Brien was sent off.
Despite Enes Unal making a clear attempt at the ball from an offside position, play continued for Adli to eventually head home, with VAR not intervening either.

David Moyes told to take action against Howard Webb
Keith Hackett believes that Moyes should make a phone call to demand answers, with the standard of officiating currently “shocking” in the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, the ex-PGMOL chief admits that the lack of consistency isn’t good enough, and more needs to be done.
“If I were David Moyes, I would be on the phone to Howard Webb and the Premier League to complain about the shocking standards of officiating that are impacting the results in games,” Hackett said.
“Last night, the second goal scored and allowed was wrong in law.
“The Bournemouth 26 comes from an offside position and makes a deliberate move to head the ball. This is a deliberate play and, in law, is offside.
“I know that, having seen this in my old position as boss of the PGMOL, I would expect a call from the Everton Manager.
“PGMOL match officials lack consistency.
“This must be down to the leadership and direction of Howard Webb. Everyone can see that something needs to happen.”
Everton have been punished far too many times
You only need to go back a couple of weeks to see another example of this being punished.
It’s no surprise that it was Everton who were on the wrong end of it too, with O’Brien seeing a goal disallowed in the 1-0 win at Aston Villa.
Harrison Armstrong was deemed offside despite not touching the ball, and that was accepted, but if that’s given, then this Bournemouth goal cannot be allowed to stand.
Moyes may ring Webb, but the officials are so media-trained in the modern day that it will be the same old rubbish that he is told.
It simply isn’t good enough.
