Everton might have made Youssef Chermiti mistake after what he’s gone and done at Rangers
Everton felt as though they had gotten a good deal for Youssef Chermiti in the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese striker was sold to Rangers for £8million, with the deal including an extra £2m in add-ons.
Having joined for a fee of £14m from Sporting CP in August 2023, Chermiti never scored for Everton and was often left on the bench under Sean Dyche and David Moyes.
Although it was a smart decision to sell him at the time, his hat-trick against Hearts on Sunday showed exactly what they are missing out on.

Youssef Chermiti spearheads Rangers attack in Scottish Premiership title race
The 21-year-old came under a lot of criticism from Everton fans and he has definitely struggled to maintain consistency at Rangers.
Although his brace in the Old Firm derby on 3 January bought him some leeway with the supporters, Chermiti wasn’t doing enough in Glasgow to merit the fee.
However, his three goals against league leaders Hearts at Ibrox showcased his potential to become a top-class number nine.
His first goal was a composed finish at the near post, while his second was a towering header that made the score 3-2 in Rangers’ favour.
Chermiti put the game beyond doubt with a fierce low strike past goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow, and the result has closed the gap on Hearts at the top of the table to just two points.

He is quickly becoming a hero at Rangers and is being entrusted with scoring the goals that could lead them to winning their first league title since 2020-21.
As for Moyes, he might be thinking that it was the wrong decision to let him go instead of Beto.

Selling Chermiti over Beto could prove to be a costly mistake
Guinea-Bissau international Beto has been incredibly poor this season, despite Moyes being desperate to add more quality to his attack.
Youssef En-Nesyri and Ivan Toney were linked with a move in the winter window, but as no deal was agreed for either of them, Beto, who’d also been the subject of transfer rumours, stayed put.
Beto has only scored three times this season, and he was particularly wasteful in front of goal at the start of the campaign, which led to him being dropped for Thierno Barry.

That’s why selling Chermiti is starting to look as though it may have been an error, especially since Beto is 28 years old and has no real room for development.
The Toffees have the 14th-best attack in the league, which shows how big their problems are in the final third.
Chermiti could have been moulded into an effective striker under Moyes, and his stock would have grown over time.
However, the Toffees didn’t believe in him, and they’ll now have to watch on as he grows from strength to strength at Rangers.
