Adam Aznou not only Everton left-back set for change as Vitalii Mykolenko plan becomes clear

Everton are increasingly likely to allow Adam Aznou to leave on loan this summer.

Why is a good question, because in the one appearance where the defender actually played in the Toffees FA Cup defeat to Sunderland in January, he looked very promising.

The Moroccan came off the bench to help the Blues to force the game to penalties at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where David Moyes’ side eventually lost embarrassingly in the shootout.

However, Aznou was the positive to take from the game, and his performance made Bluenoses ask further questions about his playing time.

But he is not the only left-back who is set for change at Everton, with Vitalii Mykolenko‘s role looking likely to change.

Vitalli Mykolenko set for backseat at Everton after contract

Mykolenko wasn’t sold in the winter window despite interest present, which suggested that the Toffees have plans to keep the Ukrainian at Hill Dickinson for a while longer yet.

The Blues could hand him a two or three-year contract extension, which will allow them to rake in more money from an eventual sale, due to his current deal expiring at the end of this season.

But the reason is that Moyes may want to keep the full-back at the club for one more season, acting as a bench option for his inevitable replacement.

Everton were linked with multiple left-sided defensive options in the winter window, which made it crystal clear that it’s an area that the Friedkin Group are willing to invest in.

Mykolenko hasn’t exactly pulled up any trees this season, and this potential outcome looks the most sensible from an on-field and off-field perspective.

Two other Everton stars almost guaranteed to leave on loan

Hopefully, there is not too much internal panic from both Everton and Aznou’s camp, because even though he’s not playing under Moyes, that doesn’t mean the latter will be in charge forever.

Football changes fast, and Aznou could soon get his breakthrough on Merseyside, he will just have to bide his time.

But while Moyes is commanding the Toffees, he, along with Merlin Rohl are two who won’t benefit. Rohl looks destined for an immediate loan once his deal with Everton becomes permanent in the summer, should the Toffees stay up.

But not only could the German midfielder depart, as Moyes has admitted that he wanted Harrison Armstrong to rejoin Preston North End in the January window.

Unless the academy graduate proves he is capable of stepping up to the Premier League level from now until the end of the season, he will most likely find a new club on loan next term.
