Everton in line for ‘extraordinary’ Anthony Gordon cash boost amid £87m Newcastle exit news
Everton could be set to make more money from the sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle.
Plenty was made of Gordon‘s transfer to Newcastle back in 2024, and it’s fair to say that Evertonians haven’t forgotten how betrayed they felt when he left.
The 24-year-old had only just really started to break through on Merseyside, but jumped at the first opportunity to leave.
Since his move North, Gordon has scored 32 goals in 141 games for Newcastle, while also having registered 21 assists across all competitions.
And that form, as rare as it has been in the Premier League this season, has caught the attention of another top-flight club who are prepared to pay big to sign him in the summer.
Who wants to sign Anthony Gordon?
When he made it clear that he wanted to leave Everton, several clubs had shown an interest, but it was Newcastle who won the race.
But now, a report from Fichajes states that Manchester United are ready to make a summer move for the Englishman, who has scored six goals in eight Champions League appearances this term.
It’s claimed that the Red Devils are willing to pay a fee in the region of £87million for Gordon, which would represent an “extraordinary profit” if Newcastle opted to sell him this summer.
And when taking into account his domestic form this season, as well as the lack of PSR wiggleroom, it’s a situation that certainly holds interest.
But for Everton, that would also represent a boost, given the fact that they inserted a sell-on clause in the deal that saw him join Newcastle two years ago, as confirmed via Sky Sports.

The initial deal is believed to be worth £40m, with add-ons taking it to £45m, meaning it would be a very healthy financial boost if Gordon were to leave.
How much could Everton be set to make?
Sell-on clauses can vary, and they are almost never revealed in terms of their actual value.
However, most of them work on the basis that the percentage is taken from the amount of profit made by the players’ most recent club.
If Newcastle were to make £42m on Gordon this summer, that is the amount that Everton would take a percentage on.
A 10 per cent sell-on clause would see the Toffees receive £4.2m, while a 15 per cent sell-on clause, which is quite common, would see them make upwards of £6.3m.
For a player who left the club two years ago, that would be a welcome financial boost for the Merseysiders and for the Friedkin Group.
