Everton have win-win James Garner situation as Manchester United’s summer plan revealed
Everton’s James Garner is on the radar of Manchester United, with the Red Devils prioritising a defensive midfield signing in the summer transfer window.
This is due to Casemiro leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season, as Garner’s name sits on a list of multiple potential replacements.
The former Manchester United academy graduate has been a success at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and David Moyes will not want to lose the core cog of his team.
The Toffees managed to keep hold of the Englishman despite interest in the winter transfer window, but the summer may prove to be too difficult a task for the Friedkin Group.
However, it may not be all doom and gloom if Garner were to leave Everton.

Everton already secured major profit in case of James Garner sale
As highlighted in the graphic above, Garner’s average Sofascore rating proves just how consistent he’s been for the Blues this campaign.
Through good and bad results, the 24-year-old has put in solid performances for Moyes, and it’s no surprise that he is attracting the interest of Man United.
- Garner signed a new contract with Everton until the summer of 2030
- Manchester United sold him to the Toffees in 2022 for a package deal of £15million
Garner recently signed a new long-term contract with Everton, as his previous deal was running thin. The new terms suggest that the Blues could rake in a healthy profit from the initial £15million that they paid for him.
The alternative, of course, is to keep him at the Hill Dickinson, which is what most people want, and an increase in demands from the Toffees could keep the Red Devils away.
Either way, the Friedkin Group will be happy going into next season, regardless of whether he stays or leaves.

Why David Moyes could walk if Garner is sold
While the Friedkin Group may not be too bothered if Garner were to leave for a big financial profit, Moyes certainly would be.
The Everton boss would, of course, be happy if the defensive midfielder was replaced, but given what the Toffees already have, that might not be the case.
Merlin Rohl will sign for Everton permanently at the end of the season if the Blues stay up, and his ability to play as a six, eight, and a 10, like Garner, could be Dan Friedkin’s excuse to keep his cash pocketed.

It already doesn’t seem like Moyes is a big fan of Rohl, which is a worry considering that he will most likely stay at Hill Dickinson beyond this season.
The worst-case scenario would be for Moyes to say he’s had enough if this were to happen, but there would of course be hopes that Garner is replaced efficiently.
