Everton continue Harry Wilson transfer hunt as deal eyed after striker signing

Everton were strongly linked with a move for Harry Wilson in January, before he opted to stay at Fulham.

The Wales international is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer as his Craven Cottage contract edges closer to its expiry date.

The Guardian reported on Thursday that Everton are still interested in signing the attacking midfielder as they assess their attacking options ahead of the upcoming window.

Fulham are still looking to keep hold of the 28-year-old, but face stern opposition in their hopes of pinning him down with a new deal.

That is especially the case with David Moyes’s side and Aston Villa keeping their places in the race to land Wilson on a free transfer.

Aston Villa still battling Everton for Harry Wilson

The Blues may be able to offer regular Premier League minutes to the Welshman, but the Villans may be able to produce Champions League football next season.

A claret and blue switch for Wilson was assessed in the January window, but the Telegraph’s report suggests that Villa decided to sign Tammy Abraham instead.

That ended their efforts to sign the Fulham man in the winter, but he has remained on their radar ahead of the summer window.

Unai Emery’s side want to sign a new right winger to add to the former Chelsea striker in B6, a position that he has thrived in this season.

Everton have maintained their interest in the face of Villa’s opposition, while the Cottagers are also hopeful of Wilson sticking around in the capital.

How can Everton tempt Wilson to Hill Dickinson Stadium?

The prospect of playing under Moyes will be positive for any potential new signings, and the Welshman won’t be any different.

A move for the attacking midfielder may wholly depend on where Everton finish this season and whether they achieve European qualification.

That would afford Wilson the chance to test his recent form and excellent output at a higher level, while also being a regular starter in L4.

If the Blues fall away into mid-table, that could open the door for the ex-Liverpool youngster to become a hugely useful squad player at Villa Park next season.

It looks as if fate could be in Everton’s hands as they look to tempt the soon-to-be free agent back to Merseyside.
