Why David Moyes has high-stakes Carlos Alcaraz decision as Everton risk runs genuine concern
Carlos Alcaraz will not be getting the game time he expects at Everton this season.
The Toffees signed the attacking midfielder permanently in the summer, as part of their plans to move forward at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
He impressed David Moyes while on loan for the second part of last season, and it seemed like he may have had an important role coming into this campaign.
However, Alcaraz has been pushed out of Everton‘s starting lineup with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all being top performers for the Blues.
Despite his versatility, the Argentine is still finding minutes hard to come by this season, and the arrival of Tyrique George hasn’t helped his chances either.

Carlos Alcaraz has played less minutes than last season; summer exit close?
The only times where Moyes has used Alcaraz is where he’s been forced to. It’s clear that the head coach isn’t keen on the South American, but his undeniable talent deserves to be on display.
If that’s not at Everton, then despite his love for the club, Alcaraz may look for a new club in the summer.
This would no doubt come as a financial loss for the Toffees, as the 23-year-old hasn’t been able to increase his market value through performances.
- Everton signed Alcaraz permanently for around £15million
- He has played 673 minutes in the league this season
Some would argue that he hasn’t shown any signs of promise when given a chance, but it would be unfair to judge a player who hasn’t been given a consistent run of games in the side.

Alcaraz was given over 700 minutes of play time in the league last season, despite having his loan transfer finalised in February. From August to this February, he’s somehow played fewer minutes.
Everton fans were delighted to see him rejoin the club this summer, but Bluenoses know that his talent is Premier League quality, as another side may snap him up this summer for a cut-price deal.

What has Alcaraz just said about Everton fans?
The forward shows passion and determination whenever he steps out onto the field, and has the ability to get fans off their seats. As relayed by Everton News Feed on X, Alcaraz has declared his wish to keep playing for the Toffees.
Alcaraz said: “Honestly, when they chant my name even before I come on, it gives me goosebumps because it’s something that doesn’t happen for every player. It really is special.
“So hopefully I can stay for more years to come.”
But the “hopefully” may suggest that what he wants is to keep playing, and with him at a vital point in his career for progressing, that’s what he needs.
Moyes has big team selections to make from now until the end of the season, and not playing Alcaraz could prompt his departure in just a couple of months.
