Friedkins left with more questions at Everton after what David Moyes has said about Tyler Dibling

Tyler Dibling’s lack of gametime has led to more questions than answers this season.

After a breakthrough campaign with Southampton, Dibling made the move to Merseyside in a deal worth around £40million last summer.

Given the reputation he had of being an exciting, creative talent, many expected him to hit the ground running at Everton, but it has been nothing of the sort.

In fact, the 20-year-old has played just 349 minutes of Premier League football for the Toffees this season, and has yet to register a goal or an assist.

And yet the mystery over his move has only deepened with what David Moyes has had to say.

What has David Moyes said about Tyler Dibling?

Dibling’s most recent appearance for the Blues came in their 1-1 draw with Brighton at the end of January, and that was a 10-minute cameo at the end of the clash.

Prior to that, he had only started two games this year for Everton, and that was their FA Cup defeat to Sunderland as well as their 4-2 defeat to Brentford, the latter in which he was hooked at half-time.

His lack of minutes, as well as the lack of impact when he has had minutes, has had many people asking why they signed him, and those questions remain unanswered after Moyes‘ latest comments.

Speaking ahead of their encounter with Man United, he said: “He’ll probably need a little bit of time. Even me looking towards the start of next season, I’m saying pre-season friendlies, etc.

“All those things will help get him more established than when we got him in.”

Everton don’t have ‘time’ for Dibling, here’s why

Had Dibling signed for a top-six club, then these comments would hold value.

There would be little expectation for him to be an immediate star, and he would be afforded plenty of time to get up to speed.

But in all honesty, Everton are still underachieving. And spending £40m on a player who, after 26 games into a season, is still not up to speed is doing nothing but preventing their progress.

Everton need players to come in and have an immediate impact to get them where they belong, and it begs the question as to what TFG actually had in mind when sanctioning such a big-money move for him, which has seemingly prevented them from improving other areas of the squad.
