Why Everton have more reasons than one to put foot on gas for summer Harry Wilson transfer

Everton’s interest in Fulham’s Harry Wilson has once again cropped up in transfer speculation.

The Toffees were said to be interested in signing the Welsh international in the winter transfer window, but Marco Silva was keen to keep hold of his main star.

David Moyes instead got himself Tyrique George as a wide option, but that hasn’t derailed the Blues’ interest in Wilson.

Everton are said to still be in the battle to sign the right-winger this summer, as they face stiff competition from Aston Villa and other Premier League clubs.

However, there are clear reasons as to why the Toffees have a greater desire than anyone in their pursuit of the forward.

TFG transfer business could favour Harry Wilson move; this is why

The Friedkin Group spent heavily in the summer, bringing in the likes of Tyler Dibling and Thierno Barry to Hill Dickinson Stadium in big-money moves.

However, as seen in the winter window, the Toffees were targeting more shrewd signings like they have done in the past, with many options being looked at as potential loan transfers.

Dan Friedkin may not want to spend big on summer fees in a couple of months, which may make Everton have more wiggle room to give Wilson a more lucrative contract.

The 28-year-old is on track to have his best individual season in the Premier League, and with his contract set to expire in the summer, Everton could pick him up on a free.

As highlighted by Sofascore in the graphic below, the attacker has grabbed 14 goals and assists in all competitions this season, which is far more than anyone in a Blue shirt has managed for Moyes this term.

With Jack Grealish’s future at the Blues uncertain, it would make sense for Everton to add more quality out wide with Wilson.

Wilson’s 4.13 entries of the box statistic should be the biggest eye-opener for Moyes and TFG, considering the fact that the Toffees have struggled to create chances this season.

Another reason why his arrival could be made even more crucial is that there are growing rumours surrounding Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye.

The likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are said to be tracking Moyes’ superstar, and he is currently the most important playmaker at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Ndiaye has 18 goal involvements for the Toffees since joining last season, and Wilson is the only man who could replace him for cheap.

It’s clear what needs to be done: put the big bucks in front of the Welshman, and get a deal done.
