Everton vs Man United preview: Team news, lineups, prediction

Everton are aiming to get back to winning ways when they host Man United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.

Despite losing 2-1 to Bournemouth in their last Premier League match, the Toffees remain eighth in the table, and they are in with a good chance of qualifying for European football under David Moyes.

Up next is a tricky test against Michael Carrick’s side, who are the only team not to lose a top-flight game in 2026 so far.

Preview

The loss to Bournemouth on 11 February was a demoralising blow, but the Toffees have already proved their credentials as contenders for European football.

Big away wins over Aston Villa and Fulham in 2026 have shown that they can do the business on their travels.

However, the Toffees haven’t won at home since 6 December, and it’s clear that they need to address this issue quickly.

Man United won’t prove to be easy customers, as they look rejuvenated under Carrick since he was brought to replace Ruben Amorim on 13 January.

Although they dropped points to West Ham last time out, they have beaten Tottenham, Man City and Arsenal in the last five games.

Head-to-head

The last meeting between the two sides saw the Toffees claim a phenomenal 1-0 win at Old Trafford on 24 November.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored a superb winner as Everton fought for all three points with 10 men for the majority of the match.

Over the course of history, it’s the Red Devils who have been more dominant.

Everton’s all-time head-to-head record vs Man United

Man United have more away wins (19) and more wins overall (42) against Everton than any team has against another in Premier League history.

That’s obviously expected due to the recent success they’ve had under Sir Alex Ferguson, but the Toffees have the perfect chance to match a record of their own.

Following their 1-0 win at Old Trafford in November, Everton are looking to complete just their second Premier League double over Man United after 2013-14.

Team news and predicted lineups

Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye will undoubtedly be the first two names on the teamsheet, whilst Idrissa Gueye and James Garner will likely take up their places in the heart of midfield.

Beto could start over Thierno Barry, while Harrison Armstrong could replace Tyrique George after he failed to make an impact against Bournemouth.

Jake O’Brien is also suspended, which means Nathan Patterson is the obvious replacement at right-back.

Jack Grealish is the only player out with an injury, and Moyes will be pleased to have the majority of his core starters available.

As for Man United, Patrick Dorgu, Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt are all expected to miss out, but they have a very strong squad on paper to cope with their injuries.

Everton predicted XI vs Man United

Everton predicted XI: Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong; Beto

Man United predicted XI: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Man United

Whilst Beto continues to frustrate the Everton fans, Man United’s Bryan Mbeumo is certainly the man that fans should be afraid of.

The Cameroon international has nine league goals this season, but the Toffees have a very impressive defence that could stand firm.

Both sides have incredibly imposing teams, and it wouldn’t be a shock if the match were to be decided by a set-piece situation.

There’s not much in this game, and although another win over the Red Devils is unlikely, Everton will definitely put up more of a fight in L4.

Therefore, a draw is the only outcome that makes sense.
