Everton learn impact of Jack Grealish injury on summer transfer – ‘It’s a real shame’

Everton will maintain hope of signing Jack Grealish even after his season-ending injury.

The Manchester City loanee was one of the Toffees’ best players in the first half of the season as he looked to remind the Premier League how good he can be.

With two goals and six assists in 22 appearances, David Moyes was helping to get the best out of the attacking midfielder on Merseyside.

His season has been cut short at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but that hasn’t stopped talk over a potential permanent deal.

Questions will be asked about his injury, but it looks unlikely that Grealish’s issue will negatively impact the potential of a summer move.

Jack Grealish could still sign permanently for Everton

There have been worries that the Blues could be put off signing the 30-year-old as he looks set to miss the rest of the campaign.

That has been matched by suggestions that his fitness concerns could result in a potential cut-price deal when the upcoming window opens.

Pep Guardiola’s side may be keen to get the Englishman off the books as a result of his injury, which could benefit the Toffees.

Former Everton scout Bryan King doesn’t buy into this idea, suggesting that a deal for Grealish won’t be impacted by his injury because it won’t harm his career prospects.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “As long as the fee is right, I think he’ll stay at Everton.

“He’s had his career resurrected, and it’s a real shame about the injury.

“He’ll be a big name for Everton, and he’s already proved to be a big name with the fans.

“If a loan isn’t possible, Everton will make it permanent. There will be negotiations over the fee, and I’d imagine the wages he’s on.

“They’ll pay anywhere between £30m-40m, that would be realistic.

“The injury won’t play a part because it’s not career-threatening, and he’ll be in a position where he will recover for next season.

“It’s a shame for him because it’s stopped his World Cup ambitions.”

What has Grealish said about signing for Everton?

There is no hiding the fact that Grealish has taken the Blues into his heart, despite just six months of playing action in L4.

That could be enough in itself for a permanent deal to be sealed, with the attacking midfielder confirming his desire to stay at Everton back in January.

He said: “I would love to stay after this loan. This feels like home now. I hope a deal can be done so I can stay at this club I have fallen in love with.”

A summer deal will now depend on the transfer fee that Man City demands and how willing the attacker is to lessen his wages.

Moyes is bound to want him to stick around, but there are many moving parts in a potential move to get it over the line on Merseyside.
