James Tarkowski will fume, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall sloppy – Everton player ratings vs Man United

Everton lost 1-0 against Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday.

The Red Devils travelled to Hill Dickinson Stadium on 23 February, with a stop-start first half due to Darren England’s officiating, leaving both teams failing to do much before the break.

Right after the break, David Moyes’ team talk seemed to have worked as the Toffees looked the more threatening side, but Michael Carrick’s team then took control of the game, although the Blues didn’t let the visitors dominate for long.

It was a moment of quality from Matheus Cunha that helped Man United break on the counter, with Benjamin Sesko scoring and taking the three points from L4.

James Tarkowski almost perfect for Everton vs Manchester United

Moyes made some curious defensive changes, with James Garner and Jarrad Branthwaite as full-backs, but James Tarkowski arguably was the standout player of the game.

The Englishman has been reliable over recent seasons and shut Man United’s attackers down, with Brayan Mbeumo having no room to breathe as the centre-forward

Senso came on at around the hour mark, and Tarkowski just failed to ensure he remained solid alongside Michael Keane in one moment as the Slovenia international slotted a quick counter-attack in the 71st minute, which the captain will surely be furious about.

The 33-year-old’s confidence clearly spread throughout the Merseyside outfit’s defence as the Red Devils failed to create many opportunities, but they were punished for one lapse of concentration.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall kills attacks at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Bruno Fernandes failed to do much for their teams in the number 10 positions, with the former Chelsea ace particularly sloppy for the Toffees.

Everton had some decent opportunities against the Man United defence, but the English playmaker’s passing in the final third was underwhelming.

There were moments when Dewsbury-Hall failed to pull off basic passes and killed opportunities to effectively counter the Red Devils.

While the 27-year-old has been impressive for the Blues this season, his impact in the final third was negative for them on the evening at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
