Friedkin Group to heed message by David Moyes after actions in Everton vs Man United

David Moyes’ actions against Manchester United have inadvertently sent a message to Everton owners, The Friedkin Group.

The Toffees’ quest for European football took a stumble, as their infamously poor form at the Hill Dickinson continued against the Red Devils, losing 1-0 on Monday.

For whatever reason, the Blues simply cannot get results at their home ground this season over the line, and that could end up thwarting their hopes.

As Moyes’ side fell behind against Man United, the actions, or lack thereof, by Moyes spoke volumes, and the Everton owners will surely have been paying attention.

David Moyes does not trust his whole Everton squad

It may not have been intentional, but Moyes’ decision to only use two substitutes against Man United felt like an overt look into the manager’s opinion on the fringe players of his squad.

With the Toffees a goal down and chasing a result, the Scotsman seemingly did not trust most of his bench players to come on and make a difference.

Only winter signing Tyrique George and striker Beto were brought into the action, with neither being able to turn the game around.

Players such as Tyler Dibling, Dwight McNeil and Merlin Rohl were all left to sit and watch, unable to help their team.

It seems clear that Moyes simply did not trust those players against a team such as Man United, and with a fight for Europe on the cards, that is a damning indictment of his options.

Those above Everton have much deeper squads, with players able to come on and make a difference. Their opponents on Monday were a clear example, as Benjamin Sesko scored after coming off the bench.

While the Blues will need to make improvements across the starting lineup next season, they also must work on increasing not only the quantity of depth in L3 but the quality as well.

Everton spared in European race

The loss at Hill Dickinson was not ideal, but the Toffees were spared slightly due to the results around them.

Both Brentford and Bournemouth dropped points this week, who currently sit above the Merseyside club. Additionally, Newcastle faltered in their own hunt to climb the table after losing to Manchester City.

Former Everton manager Marco Silva has crept up behind the Blues after Fulham beat Sunderland, but overall, the position in the race for Europe has not changed much.

Next up for Moyes is a trip to St James’ Park, where Everton can distance themselves further from the Geordies.

With their form on the road much better this season, the Toffees may fancy their chances much more on Saturday.
