Dwight McNeil set to leave Everton for ‘minimal amount’ as demand set ahead of summer exit

Dwight McNeil looks destined for an Everton exit after his failed January move.

The Englishman was ready to leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the winter as a move to Crystal Palace and Selhurst Park looked increasingly likely.

A deal was agreed and looked set to go through, but the winger was left in the dark and eventually realised that a Merseyside stay was the reality of the situation.

The 26-year-old hasn’t featured under David Moyes since then, with two appearances on the bench as an unused substitute in the last two Premier League outings.

The Toffees could now be prepared to wave goodbye to McNeil at the end of the campaign, with a cut-price move potentially in the pipeline.

Dwight McNeil can finally leave Everton

There is no secret that the ex-Burnley man had his eyes on Selhurst Park on deadline day as a £20million deal looked set to go through.

That opened the door for the Blues to bring in Tyrique George, who has featured three times since his loan from Chelsea was sealed.

McNeil hasn’t had such luck and has been forced to watch from the subs bench against Manchester United and Brighton.

Former Everton scout Bryan King believes the wide man will now depart permanently in the summer for a low price in the region of £5million.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “It all fell down, and everyone thought a move to Crystal Palace was going through.

There was obviously a reason why he wanted to leave the club, and now he’s pulled back in.

I don’t think he’s the number one pick anywhere on the pitch, so I would think there will be an exit in the summer.

I think it will be a minimal amount of money. If Everton can even get £5m for him now, it will be handy.

Why did McNeil’s move to Crystal Palace fall through?

It certainly looked as if the Englishman would become a Crystal Palace player in the winter, but he was left in the dark.

There are suggestions that Eagles’ chairman Steve Parish just walked out on a deal and went completely silent on deadline day.

Whatever did happen, it certainly left McNeil and his family gutted, with his girlfriend taking to Instagram after the events in SE25.

She didn’t hold back as she showcased her emotion, and she could be set to go through it all again in the upcoming transfer window.

Everton could let McNeil go and help both parties to move on from what was a very unsavoury situation on Merseyside.
