Adam Aznou sends message as surgery confirmed away from Everton

Adam Aznou has endured a debut season to forget at Everton.

The Toffees signed Aznou from Bayern Munich in the summer, as the left-back arrived with great promise behind his early reputation.

Despite that, David Moyes has clearly never become a fan.

Aznou made a positive cameo in the FA Cup defeat against Sunderland back in January, but hasn’t featured since at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It appears as though he is keeping his head high, though, as injury news elsewhere proves it could be much worse for the Everton defender.

Adam Aznou reacts to gutting surgery news

Nayef Aguerd won’t be massively well-known to Everton fans, but he has featured in the Premier League over recent years.

Playing at West Ham, the Moroccan international spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad before moving permanently to Marseille over the most recent summer.

Aznou will know Aguerd through international arrangements, and he will be pained that his fellow defender has undergone surgery.

Aguerd confirmed the news on Instagram, saying that constant pain became too much before being forced to go under the knife to solve the issue.

Aznou was quick to comment, writing: “May Allah grant you healing, brother,” with a red love heart.

Where has it gone wrong for Adam Aznou at Everton?

Aznou was linked with a late January loan exit in the recent winter window, with Moyes said to be happy to sanction that despite injuries.

Vitalii Mykolenko, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson have all suffered injuries this season, yet Aznou has been left out in the cold.

Rather than use the left-back, Moyes has pushed Jake O’Brien or Jarrad Branthwaite out of position to plug holes while others recover.

With zero minutes in the Premier League, it is hard to imagine that Aznou will want to stick around past this season, even with the possibility of European football next season.

That added competition could open the door for the Moroccan to feature more, but given Moyes’ reluctance so far, that appears unlikely.

Angus Kinnear and his team will also be under pressure to add much more squad depth over the summer after the success of Moyes this season, which further complicates matters.

It may not be long until we see Aznou running out in different colours.
