Everton risk Sean Dyche-like scenario with David Moyes in contract latest

Everton could see David Moyes’ contract become an issue at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Liverpool Echo journalist Chris Beesley claims Sean Dyche’s future became a matter of concern for the Toffees as he entered the final year of his deal.

The Scottish manager signed with the Blues for two-and-a-half years, replacing the former Burnley boss in January 2025 and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

The Friedkin Group entrusted Moyes to bring stability back to the Merseyside outfit, but fans in L4 now want to see their team make progress, and the 62-year-old head coach’s situation should be resolved.

David Moyes future at Everton could depend on end-of-season prospect

Moyes has taken massive strides at the Toffees, bringing hope back among fans after years of relegation battles.

Under Farhad Moshiri’s tumultuous reign, the Blues looked like realistic contenders to go down to the Championship, but that has quickly changed.

Moyes is now fighting for European qualification in the Premier League, which will undoubtedly be a significant achievement for the Merseyside outfit.

The Scottish manager has faced criticism from supporters at times this season due to his tactical setup in certain games.

As things stand, the Toffees are eighth in the league table, and if they fail to win further up the table, the former West Ham United boss’ future may come under the scanner in the summer.

Speaking on the Royal Blues Podcast, as relayed by the Liverpool Echo on 12 March, Beesly said, “I think they should do. You had that scenario with Sean Dyche — obviously a very different personality — was going into the final year of his contract and it’s not like players downed tools but it became an issue.”

David Moyes has new undroppable at Hill Dickinson Stadium

TFG arguably left Moyes with a lack of quality in depth after the last two transfer windows, making things difficult for him at times.

Injuries and the absence of some key players midway through the season saw Everton have a dip in form, which shouldn’t have been surprising.

The Scottish manager seems to have found his best eleven again at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Dwight McNeil’s resurgence delighting fans in L4.

With the 26-year-old Englishman looking like a new signing after a failed move to Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window, Moyes now has another player he can count on until the end of the season.
