Everything that’s happened to Jack Grealish since season-ending injury, plus what people at Finch Farm are saying

Everton supporters were dealt a huge blow in January when Jack Grealish was ruled out until the end of the season.

The versatile attacker joined the club on loan last summer, arriving from Manchester City.

The Toffees find themselves in a race for European football heading into the season’s crunch point, with Grealish a huge part of this in the first half of the campaign.

Looking ahead to a potential permanent move this summer, Goodison News takes a look at everything we know about the injured 30-year-old.

Jack Grealish on the road to recovery following surgery

Four weeks ago, Grealish underwent surgery on a stress fracture in his left foot, ruling him out for the remaining months of the 2025-26 season.

The Manchester City loanee had played a crucial role for David Moyes in the months leading up to his absence, with eight goal contributions since his summer arrival.

Earlier this week, Grealish posted a message on his Instagram outlining that he remains on the road to recovery.

After a tough period at The Etihad, the former Aston Villa man was on track to discover his best form at Hill Dickinson Stadium, before his season was ended abruptly following the Toffees’ 1-0 win against his former club at Villa Park.

With Moyes’ side in the race for European football, Everton are hopeful that they can keep hold of Grealish over the summer months.

Grealish is having a huge impact at Everton – they must keep hold of him

The reported £50million buy option for Grealish could be deemed steep moving forward into the summer, but the hope is that the clubs will be able to come to a more suitable agreement.

Speaking on his future, former Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers told Everton News: “When Jack arrived at Everton he not only gave everyone a lift by adding real quality to the squad, but I believe his personality, character and winning mentality is something David Moyes needs in his dressing room.

“Speaking to people at the club, it appears his influence is still being felt around the place.

“The fact Grealish has stayed around the club since the injury suggests to me that every effort will be made to find the right deal to allow the 30-year-old Manchester City man to continue his Everton relationship.

“Of course it can’t be for the reported £50m asking price, but if the two clubs can find a compromise, I think it would be in the best interest of all concerned.”

An important character in the dressing room, and someone experienced at the highest level, Grealish could make a huge difference as the club aim to continue climbing up the standings in the coming years.

Keeping hold of Grealish would also make a huge statement, with the Toffees proving that they are a viable option for top players across the continent looking to make a name for themselves, with the potential prospect of European football alongside.

What about his World Cup dream?

After a fantastic start to the season, Grealish’s dream of making the England squad at the upcoming World Cup is surely over.

After playing a part at the rescheduled Euro 2020 tournament and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the winger missed out at the last tournament in Germany.

Despite being reintegrated during Lee Carsley’s tenure, he has been unable to make the squad under Thomas Tuchel.

With the 30-year-old out for the remaining months of the season, the chances of making Tuchel’s squad are extremely slim.

He will be lacking match fitness, while he has not had the opportunity to force his way into the side through form – which he may well have done had he completed a full season with the Toffees.

Though, with no recent form to go on, and no international tournament to impress, Everton may have a free run at securing his signature for a bargain deal over the summer.

Grealish has had a big impact on Merseyside, and the club must look to keep hold of him.
