Everton months away from Yves Bissouma transfer decision, Tottenham exit inevitable

Yves Bissouma has been heavily linked with Everton over the last 12 months.

With nine games left to be played this season, the Toffees’ main focus will be on what happens on the pitch, with European football in sight.

The top eight could be handed a spot in Europe next season if one of the top six wins the FA Cup, giving the Merseysiders plenty to play for between now and the end of May.

However, Everton will soon turn their attention to recruitment ahead of the summer, and having been linked with a move for Bissouma in the past, that interest may surface again in the coming weeks and months.

Everton could reignite Yves Bissouma interest

Bissouma has been hit and miss for Tottenham over the last 12 months, though the same can be said for the overwhelming majority of their squad, hence the immediate risk of relegation.

However, prior to that, Bissouma had earned a reputation that had him hailed as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League throughout his time at Brighton.

That quality remains in his game, but it will be up to his next club to get him back to his best, and that could be Everton.

Bissouma was linked with Everton last summer, but he wanted to stay in North London, though an exit finally seems to be approaching for the Mali international.

Yves Bissouma stat

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, with it looking increasingly unlikely that he will be handed a new deal.

Would Bissouma be a good addition for the Toffees?

On paper, yes. And for several reasons.

James Garner and Idrissa Gueye have had solid campaigns yet again for the Blues, but the lack of options after the pair is quite astounding.

Bissouma would fix that, and on a free, it would seem like a no-brainer.

The 29-year-old boasts a wealth of experience in the top flight, and while his wages may be steep, it is the type of signing that would help Everton reach the next level.
