Romelu Lukaku’s fate’ explained as Everton proposition may pull on heartstrings
Everton asked about the possibility of re-signing Romelu Lukaku in the January transfer window.
The number nine was linked with a sensational return to the Blues several times in the winter window, but for one reason or another, a deal with Napoli didn’t happen.
David Moyes is pushing for a spot in Europe next season, and in doing so, he would enable the Toffees to lure big-profile names like Lukaku to Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.
Everton’s transfer list is growing ahead of the market reopening, and the Belgian has yet to be fully ruled out of the realms of possibilities.

Romelu Lukaku could be done at Napoli amid Everton approach
Everton approached Lukaku’s agents in the winter, but they failed in their attempts to sign the number nine, who wanted to stay at Napoli beyond on Janaury.
The Toffees were linked with multiple strikers in the winter, including Youssef En-Neysri and, as it’s clearly a position that Moyes wanted to strengthen
- Lukaku has only played five league games for Napoli this season
- He hasn’t started a game since last year
According to Tutto Mercato, Lukaku is someone whom manager Antonio Conte likes but whose “fate” is still uncertain.
The striker is “full of unknowns” due to his injury problems this season, and the high salary that he is on means the Azzuri have to make a decision soon.
A conclusion will be made on his future after the season finishes, as the Toffees will most likely be keeping tabs on the situation.
The 32-year-old is past his best days, which were seen in the Premier League, but when fit, his numbers speak for themselves.
After all, if Everton were to come in for him, he may feel like he has unfinished business back in Merseyside.
Why Beto may have to make way for Lukaku despite recent form
Beto was linked with a move in the other direction this winter, as Juventus were named as one club interested in signing the Everton striker on loan.
Their interest came at a time when the Toffees were down in the dumps without Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye, as Beto wasn’t on form.
However, the striker now seems to be finding his feet in front of goal, finally showing signs of his excellence from last season.
But, if Everton were to get a deal for Lukaku over the line, he’d surely be one of the first men to be shown the door to make way for Moyes’ former favourite.
Thierno Barry is a long-term addition, and Lukaku would offer that short-term quality needed up top for next season.
