Everton look set to celebrate an England call-up for James Garner.

The Toffees midfielder has been a consistent force under David Moyes this season after plenty of speculation surrounding his future.

Luckily, the 25-year-old penned a new deal and has continued to showcase his class on Merseyside.

That has clearly caught the eye of Thomas Tuchel as he prepares to name his Three Lions squad for the March international break.

After a top performance in Everton’s defeat to Arsenal, it looks as if Garner could join the returning Harry Maguire at St George’s Park later this month.

The former Manchester United man has been a revelation for the Blues this season after becoming a regular in the middle of the park.

His box-to-box expertise has made him a danger in both boxes, while he has also shown his versatility by also featuring as a right-back.

All that has tied in to catch the eye of the entire Premier League, as shown by the wide-reaching interest in his signature before the January window.

That now looks to have culminated in a call-up from Tuchel, with BBC Sport journalist Sami Mokbel reporting via X that Garner is a candidate to replace Alex Scott in the England squad.

The Bournemouth man looks to have lost his place with the Three Lions, potentially leaving the door open for the 25-year-old to step in.

He could be set for his first spell in the senior side, with Manchester United’s Maguire potentially set for a return to the squad.

Garner is totally deserving of an England call-up and will be hopeful of taking his place when the announcement drops.

The latest squad news will drop at 10am on Friday, with Tuchel set to begin the run-in to the 2026 World Cup in North America.

The Toffees will certainly have one eye on proceedings and hope that their midfielder can secure a deserved spot in the side.

Having featured across every available Premier League match under Moyes this season, his availability should represent a plus point.

It will be interesting to see what squad Tuchel names and whether Garner is given the chance to prove himself on the international stage.
