Adam Aznou’s Everton contract situation examined as David Moyes snub continues

Adam Aznou continues to struggle for any sort of minutes at Everton.

The Morocco international signed for the Toffees from Bayern Munich in the summer, but has yet to make a Premier League appearance.

The treatment of the 19-year-old has been scrutinised on Merseyside, with many questioning why the full-back hasn’t been utilised.

Vitalii Mykolenko has been the go-to man for David Moyes and has continued to lock down the Blues’ left-hand side despite mixed reviews.

Aznou could now eye a move away from Everton, as Goodison News rounds up everything we know about his contract in L4.

What is Adam Aznou’s contract situation at Everton?

There was excitement when the defender came in over the summer, as many had been calling for a new left-back option in L4.

That anticipation hasn’t translated into any sort of game time as Moyes has been reluctant to feature the Moroccan in any capacity.

His lack of opportunities have been a surprise considering he only joined the Toffees just seven months ago.

That means his contract situation is unfavourable for Aznou, with him tied down to an unfavourable situation until the summer of 2029.

Everton tied the teenager down to a four-year contract, with a weekly wage in the region of £25,000.

That equates to a yearly salary of approximately £1.3million, which is a sizable amount for someone who isn’t playing at all.

Aznou is seemingly nailed on to leave Everton, and who can really blame him at this stage?

Why isn’t David Moyes playing Aznou?

The thing that makes no sense about the left-back’s situation is that he has shown a flash of brilliance this campaign.

His only appearance of the season came against Sunderland in the FA Cup, and he essentially changed the game to take the tie to penalties.

He won a spot kick in normal time, while also having a positive effect on every other area of the Toffees, as showcased by Sofascore.

Aznou completed 86 per cent of his attempted passes, completed one dribble, chipped in with one defensive action, and won five duels.

That clearly wasn’t enough to impress Moyes, and that has seen the defender miss out on matchday squads or remain on the bench for every Premier League game.

It appears that the Scot has his favourites and isn’t willing to experiment, leaving the summer signing with nothing but regret over his L4 move.
